5 Predictions That Will Reshape Healthcare In 2023

As technology continues to advance and medicine continues to evolve, the healthcare sector is going through massive changes. With that in mind, here are five predictions about healthcare in 2023 which will reshape the industry.

A surge in value-based care

The healthcare industry is evolving at a rapid pace. In fact, it’s difficult to keep up with the changes in the industry because there are so many new innovations coming out every day.

One of those new innovations is value-based care, which encompasses a broad range of payment models in which healthcare providers are incentivized to provide better care at lower costs.

With this shift toward value-based care, hospitals and other healthcare providers will need to adapt their compensation models accordingly. Here are five predictions that will reshape healthcare in 2023:

1. New payment models will emerge that reward quality over cost-cutting measures

2. Hospitals will begin offering financial incentives for patients who participate in clinical trials

3. The rise of telemedicine will lead to an increase in remote patient monitoring services (RPMs)

4. Patients with chronic conditions will be able to manage their conditions remotely through the use of mobile apps and wearables

5. Hospitals will start paying for more outpatient services

Cloud-based security

A recent Forrester report predicts that cloud-based security will be the key enabler in cloud adoption. It states: “Transitioning from on-premises to the public cloud is a significant undertaking for many organizations. In order to maintain their existing systems, they need a way to prevent data breaches, ensure compliance with regulations and comply with regulatory reporting requirements.”

The report also notes that healthcare organizations are already seeing some success with hybrid cloud solutions. However, as it stands today, there is not much in terms of security features built into these hybrid solutions. Healthcare organizations are increasingly adopting more sophisticated use cases for data in the cloud but have not been able to fully take advantage of the benefits of cloud security due to a lack of support from vendors and third-party integrators.

Migrating to cloud-based applications

Here are three reasons why I think it's going to be so important in 2023 and beyond:

1) Cloud technology is used by many organizations for their websites, mobile apps, and even IT infrastructure. In addition to being cost-effective, it offers flexibility. This means that if an organization needs to add services or change how they operate internally, it can do so without worrying about the cost or impact on other parts of the business.

2) Cloud technology is also becoming more reliable as time goes on. The reason for this is simple: more companies are using it and they're working hard to make sure their applications work properly at all times. This means that when something does go wrong, it's fixed quickly and efficiently - rather than having to wait hours while technicians try to fix something they've never seen before.

3) Cloud technology allows organizations to scale up or down according to demand without having to worry about running out of resources during peak periods or having too much capacity during off-peak times. For example, if an organization has a large group of employees working from home on weekends but only needs them in for one day per week during normal business hours.

Patient engagement and analytics

We are entering the era of "smarter" healthcare. In 2023, patients will be able to access healthcare more efficiently and effectively than ever before, thanks to advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), analytics, and data-driven medicine.

1. Patient experience: The consumerization of health care means that patients will be able to access their own medical records, rather than relying on providers to provide them with information about their care. This shift will enable patients to take control of their own health care by making informed decisions about their treatment options and understanding the risks involved in each treatment option.

2. Smarter analytics: In 2023, AI will become a standard feature of healthcare delivery models — from routine appointments to complex surgeries — as AI becomes more sophisticated at predicting patient outcomes based on a variety of factors such as age, gender, race, and socioeconomic status. This trend will enable providers to provide more personalized services based on individual needs and preferences.

Takeaway: Healthcare organizations must be prepared for upcoming changes in the industry.
